Sean Hannity is the bad guy in hotline operator firing

Talk show host Sean Hannity called the Affordable Care Act hotline a couple weeks ago and put employee Earline Davis on the air. Soon afterwards, Davis was fired. She said she was unaware of the rule against speaking with the media. Feeling badly about the outcome, Hannity then gifted Davis $26,000.

On the surface, it sounds outrageous that Davis was fired for simply answering her phone and that Hannity is a stand up guy for offering her money and help in finding a new job. But in reality, it’s highly doubtful that Hannity didn’t know the conversation could end badly for Davis.

  1. Not having heard the call, but it sounds like someone was attempting to catch a low level employee off guard to score some ratings. How likely is it that she was even remotely thinking of rules about talking to the media, especially since its pretty unlikely she was in a position for it to actually happen to her, its not like she was a VP or anything of that ilk.

And in related news, another media personality gets a few low level employees fired – http://gawker.com/whining-millionaire-successfully-gets-bathroom-attendan-1458076635

    1. He knew full well what the potential consequences of her taking that call were. I don’t like sleazy behavior from either side.

As for those bathroom attendants, that is ridiculous. And mean.

      1. Well, at least he raised a year’s pay for her, unlike Blodget who just got people fired.

But, yes, there are better ways to make a point than to put the jobs of plain people who are just trying to make an honest living at risk.

  2. Thank GOD for people like Sean Hannity for trying to inform a largely dense public about this absolutely destructive Obamacare law!

With all the now known lies that were told about it by the POTUS and his hacks, millions losing their insurance policies, costs skyrocketing, doctors leaving the field by the droves, employment and hours being slashed – maybe the ignorant and brainwashed will finally wake up once it hits their pocketbooks! Liberal utopia will always fail!

As for Earline Davis, she got her salary for a year, and ended up being hired to a much better position with a company near her home. She’s happy, and perhaps the public is slightly more informed, but don’t hold your breath.

The stupidity of liberals and the willingness of democrats to destroy the greatest healthcare system in the world to forward their sick ideology are in infinite supply. This law has NOTHING to do with providing people with the care they need…

    1. This has nothing to do with Obamacare and everything to do with a media expert taking advantage of a non-expert.

It’s a rotten thing to do and he could have done the same expose without risking someone’s job.

      1. Well if what hannity did was rotten, what do we call causing hundreds of thousands to lose their jobs by fraudulently representing a “heathcare” bill? Ms. Davis was told exactly who she was talking to and that she was on the radio.

  3. Hannity must have known that he was putting her job at risk. On the other hand, it IS outrageous that she was fired. No one claims that what she said is inaccurate. They just don’t like that she spoke to the press herself. As if that’s really going to keep anyone from forming an opinion.

This is not about Obamacare, but really terrible employment policy and public relations (mis)management. Just because something is legal doesn’t make it a good idea, as you’ve said more than once.

    1. He absolutely knew he was putting her job at risk. The punishment was also way too harsh.

The public relations on this is another example of companies not thinking thorugh their decisions.
