Is everyone else in the sauna naked, or are they wearing a towel/robe? Follow protocol, you will be fine. It sounds like someone is just telling you where you can get an advantage, you are not obligated, but go for it. OP didn't say that women couldn't join, he just said that it was the men, just like it is usually the men who play golf together at the Country Club.

However, this does present the OP with another option – if he feels uncomfortable networking with the senior men in the sauna, perhaps he should find out how the senior women network and do that instead.

This is a classic good ol' boys thing, ripe for leaving women completely out of high level decisionmaking. You can't get your ideas heard if you're not naked in the sauna, right? I'm of the same opinion as Charles. I'm assured by my husband (who has years of experience in communal showers in gym changing rooms) that you all have the same bits and bobs. It's not as though the OP is talking about a mixed sauna. It's men only. So what's the problem?

If s/he decides to go with it, I suggest a few visits to a non-company sauna (which shouldn't be a problem to find if it so pervasive in the culture). At least you can work out the jitters, figure out any protocols, and decide if this is something you really want to do.
