Should you be paid for a snow day?

With entire stretches of interstate being shut down this winter due to weather, many businesses are, correctly, also shutting down. The most important thing is that everyone keep safe and warm. But missing work doesn’t mean your bills stop coming in. What happens to your paycheck?

I live in Northern Canada. We have snow days from October until May. It has to be REALLY bad before we cannot drive in it. However, there have been instances where there is a blizzard warning and the boss sends us home early. Usually with holiday pay to fill in the time.
