9,000 Women Just Won Approval to Sue Disney for Pay Disparities. Here’s How Your Business Can Avoid the Same Fate

Disney is all about making dreams come true. But right now, it’s all about fair pay. A judge just certified a class action lawsuit against Disney that allows 9,000 women to join together to sue for fair pay. 

This particular lawsuit is under the California Equal Pay Act, but it’s illegal to pay women less than men (or men less than women) under federal law as well.

While a lawsuit and class action certification do not mean that Disney has underpaid women, it is a cautionary tale for businesses everywhere. Disney undoubtedly has a large HR department with compensation experts and the ability to run regular statistical analyses. So why are plaintiffs alleging pay disparities?
