I think he was legit surprised that a federal law (ADEA) existed that prohibited discrimination against those over 40. And there’s a NY state law (The New York State Human Rights Law) which prohibits discrimination from 18 on.
I’d say he needs to hire a good HR person to stop him from making this mistake, but I had HR professionals openly complain yesterday about Coca-Cola not being able to hold women-only retreats, so sometimes I just shake my head.
Y’all, knock off the discrimination.
