I promise this blog isn’t just about me. (Yes it is! Me, me, me!!!!!)

But, I have to announce. This morning I dragged myself out of bed at 5:30 a.m. and headed to the closest Thomson Prometric Testing Center and took the PHR exam.

Preliminary result? Pass!

Yeah!

I’m very pleased as I have been studying diligently for the past two months. Of course, if the official results come back as a fail I will delete this post and deny ever having taken the exam.

I’ve been dying to express my opinion of the whole endeavor, but have refrained because of the impending exam. But now it is over and you should expect to learn my opinion very soon.

  1. Congratulations! The HR director at my last association was an SPHR, and she was one of the best HR professionals I’ve ever worked with. I’m sure it took a lot of work to prepare for the PHR exam.

Hope you get to do something great to celebrate this weekend!

  2. We’re going to the circus this afternoon, so that’s exciting. Of course, we’d be going even if I failed.

It was a ton of work to prepare for the exam. I’m really pleased.

  3. Absolutely awesome and congratulations! How were you able to write so much and not let this little (!) tidbit slip. Have some extra cotton candy today and really just feel great about what you accomplished 🙂

  4. Congrats Evil! I know what a big challenge that test is – I just passed the SPHR last month and it was a 600 lb gorilla. Now that we are both certified in the dark art of HR we will have to start attending meetings around the cauldron!

  5. Congrats evil – now comes the hard work and you have to use it! I’m serious, as lots of folk I know that have done this just go – wew -that’s that on the resume (or CV as we call it) and then forget to apply it.

Can’t wait to hear the full story after you find out you have passed will flying colours!!!

  6. Oliver, you of all people should know that we Evil HR types aspire to be Catbert, not the Pointy Headed Boss.

    Duh.

  7. Congrats! It’s not easy. I passed mine 4 years ago. Make sure you keep your recert credits up and tracked!

    Good job!

  8. Congratulations, Evil One! I passed mine on June 12 and just received the score report and certificate on Saturday, so you should have yours in 3 weeks. I love your blog; I read it at least once a week. Keep it up, and stay evil!

  9. How was the PHR test? I am scheduled to take it Dec. 1st and I am having nightmares about it.

  10. The practice of starting early and pacing yourself is the very best way of preparing for the exam. Also, divide the study materials and allot time to study before the exam.
