You know that an election is just one big, long, job interview, right? That’s what we’re doing. We’re the hiring managers, the parties are the headhunters, and we totally ended up with unlikable and questionable candidates. If you want to read how we ended up in this mess, click here: Why Does This Election Stink? Because We Suck at Interviewing
This is a fantastic summary of a very messed up process. I especially love this sentence: “We can require presidential candidates to wear the corporate logos of their sponsors, like NASCAR drivers, drivers, so we know who they are beholden to.” This would be totally awesome.
I wish I had thought of it, but I’ve heard it many times over the years. I do think it’s a great idea, though!
Better yet, enact meaningful campaign finance reform.
My most memorable “bad” interview (You cannot claim it as a “favorite” because it was truly bad.) HR never forwarded my resume to the boss. He refused to take a moment to read it. He repeatedly asked if I could read his industry specific diagram. The double kick was that the interview was conducted in an open cube farm and the manager pointed to his “new” employee and said, “He has been with me for a year and a half and is just now becoming productive.” Since when does insulting your own abilities as a trainer and manager and the slow progress of your employees count as a “good” interview? Manager also completely ignored me when I said on a similar job, I finished my first project in 6 weeks.
I’d rather stick pins in my eyes than be the President.
There ya go. Most people feel that way. So nobody that is worth having as President will ever run for President. Only the power hungry, money grubbing, corrupt.
The powers that be are breaking out the fiddles and I smell smoke.
YYYYYYEEEEEESSSSS!
While I agree with a lot of this, I think in the end we get the candidate we deserve. I don’t know if we can fix the process now. I am expecting new candidates to declare Feb 1, 2017 to have plenty of time until the election.
