One bad HR person does not mean all HR people are bad

Sometimes I make bad choices, like responding to people on Twitter.

There are terrible HR people out there. For sure. There are terrible CEOs, marketing analysts, line cooks, teachers, yoga instructors, accountants, and every other profession out there.

Most people are doing their best. Even HR.

  1. I’ve been laughing along with everyone else at all the memes that came out of this situation (while still feeling incredibly sorry for the spouses and kids involved), but man, some of the comments about HR are downright hurtful. Clearly a LOT of people have not experienced working with GOOD HR people. Definitely an eye opener.

    1. So many people want someone to blame instead of taking responsibility for their actions. HR is a convenient target, even though the decisions are usually taken by management, albeit with an HR recommendation. I work in local government and any role with compliance aspects, be it HR, ranger or town planner, cops some hate: no one likes being told no or having to wear the consequences of their choices.

      1. HR’s job is to protect the company. Sometimes, that means protecting the employees, and sometimes, it means protecting the execs from themselves.

But then, there’s the old joke about “99% of lawyers make the other 1% look bad.” I’m here all week, folks.

  2. Great insights in this article — especially the focus on transparent hiring and candidate-first practices. At Spectrum Talent Management, we follow a no-fee policy for candidates and specialize in everything from industrial staffing to CXO hiring and EOR/PEO solutions.

I believe tech-enabled, ISO-certified recruitment processes like ours are becoming essential in today’s competitive talent market. Would love to hear your thoughts on how global compliance is evolving in cross-border hiring.
