The EEOC Is Sending a Clear Message: White Men Can Be Discrimination Victims

Andrea Lucas, the head of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), recently posted the following on LinkedIn:

“Are you a white male who has experienced discrimination at work based on your race or sex?

“You may have a claim to recover money under federal civil rights laws. Contact the EEOC as soon as possible.

“The EEOC is committed to identifying, attacking, and eliminating ALL race and sex discrimination — including against white male employees and applicants.”

If every supervisor of employees does the required procedures for any deviations from the standard of expected performances, we would not be constantly having these discussions about following EOCC rules. But being human, there’s so many supervisors who fail to do their job that we always have these issues. HR doesn’t do the necessary questioning until too late too many times and most of these issues start in the hiring process during the orientation paperwork, where people just sign forms and fail to read them.
