The internet is having a meltdown over a recruiter’s advice: Don’t bring an iced coffee to a job interview.
A TikToker called Caitlin Recruiter posted this TikTok warning Gen Z applicants to skip Starbucks on their way to their job interviews.
Caitlin explains:
“When you show up with an iced coffee or an iced latte, it is perceived—from my opinion and a hiring standpoint—that this interview is just a stop on your list of errands for the day. It looks like you went to Target, went to Starbucks, and now you’re stopping by your interview before moving on to the next thing.”
Predictably, the comment section went nuts, and many people pointed out that if you’re judging a candidate on something so frivolous as an iced coffee, you’re the problem.
This reminds me of a principle the internet often forgets: Two things can be true at the same time.
