How many interviews should you conduct with each candidate before making a hiring decision?

I’m not a fan of multiple interviews, but when this LinkedIn post caught my eye, my first thought was that it was way too extreme:

“Less than two” in-person interviews? That just means one. But I thought about it and decided I agree, 100 percent.

  1. Several years ago I once interviewed for a job, got to the second stage, afterwards I asked how many stages there were… they said 7!!! This was for a mid-level (non-managerial) role! Needless to say I immediately withdrew my application.

    Even after all these years I sometimes wonder if the process is still going!
